Desmond Shawe-Taylor

Desmond Shawe-Taylor was Director of Dulwich Picture Gallery from 1996 until 2005, when he was appointed Surveyor of The Queen’s Pictures.

He has written on English eighteenth-century portraiture and other subjects. He has curated exhibitions at The Queen’s Galleries in Edinburgh and London, including Bruegel to Rubens, The Conversation Piece: Scenes of Fashionable Life and The First Georgians, devoted to the reigns of George I and George II.
