Welcome to day two of the Nottingham Castle Christmas Countdown Clock. Tonight, we’re sharing ‘The Goose Fair’ by Arthur Spooner. The Goose Fair is a long standing Nottingham Institution, with most historians agreeing that the fair began back in 1284, when the charter of King Edward I referred to city fairs in Nottingham. The fair marks the start of the City’s winter celebrations, so it only seems fitting that it’s one of the first things we share for our countdown to Christmas.
