St Zita of Lucca in Italy (d. 1272), is depicted in one of the alabaster sculptures in the Nottingham Early Craft Gallery. Housewives and servants venerated her. Her saintly cult was introduced into England, in the fifteenth century, and seems to have been popular in the East Midlands.
