Glitz and gallantry

The gallery includes 10 Victoria Crosses, the British Army’s highest award for gallantry, and a stunning silver centrepiece once used by the Regiment in the Officers’ Mess.

The collection is made up a vast array of objects charting the history of the regiment, including medals, uniforms, badges, buckles, weaponry, artwork, regimental silver, furniture, historical documents, personal documents, photographs, military memorabilia and personal equipment.

The Regiment has a long history with Nottingham Castle that dates back to 1859 when the Robin Hood Rifles standard was raised and paraded on the Castle Green. The Regimental Museum Gallery has proudly been in the Castle since 1965, displaying the Regiment’s history.
